Our village has been successful in setting up a new SCIO (charity number SC055413) called 'Kirknewton Community Hall' (KCH). This charity is separate from the Kirknewton Community Development Trust and separate from the Kirknewton Community Council. Having this separate charity for the Village Hall allows access to specific types of funding that e.g. KCDT would not be eligible for. (Note: The KCH will remain a part of KCDT - as it's currently a committee of the board - until all admin such as bank accounts and insurances have been fully sorted and the SCIO is ready to be a stand-alone charity. This is anticipated to last until around the end of 2026).
