Kirknewton Place Plan
A Kirknewton Place Plan is being developed in 2026 (to be uploaded soon) by KCDT based on more than 300 survey responses. Previously, such similar plans were called community development plans (see below). Local Place Plans are community-led plans that were introduced by The Planning (Scotland) Act 2019 to encourage communities to be more active participants in planning for their futures. Through local place plans, communities can submit ideas and proposals for their area that will be taken into account when the Council prepares their next Local Development Plan.

Previous plan: 2021 - 2025 Community Development Plan
The 2021-2025 Community Development Plan was based upon the participation of 680 people in a community consultation process. The majority of respondents to this survey feel that Kirknewton is a great place to live and that life in Kirknewton has noticeably improved for many in recent years. The community spirit so clearly expressed during this dreadful period of Covid lockdown has demonstrated the true power of local action. Let us see what we can all do to continue this momentum.
